Curcuzen® is Bioactives American’s branded, proprietary 100% natural curcumin ingredient containing 95% curcuminoids from raw turmeric sources, with no unnecessary additives or risky excipients.
Curcumin has become one of the most exciting botanical ingredients for use in nutritional products, with a vast body of clinical evidence demonstrating its known anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.* This ancient Ayurvedic herb has a long history of use in culinary and medical tradition and is considered safe and non-toxic in a variety of products.
SPECIALIZED INGREDIENTS WITH PROPRIETARY EXTRACTIONS
But with the growing demand for the ingredient, it is important to choose curcumin ingredients carefully, due to emerging concerns about adulteration. Buyers are advised to be wary of raw material that is below market price and should only deal with reputable suppliers. It is also advised to verify curcumin raw material with appropriate testing, such as the 14C (radio carbon) dating method.
Curcuzen is prepared with top-to-bottom control from extraction of the root and purification of curcumin to final packing in our facility. In this age when some curcumin ingredient is being spiked with synthetic curcumin, which has not been tested for safety or pharmacological effect, Curcuzen is authenticated by the 14C (radio carbon dating) method (analyzed at the Center for Isotope Studies at the University of Georgia), as 13.91 dpm/g carbon, compared to 14.0 dpm/g carbon and calculates to 99% naturalized.
Product specific studies :
Curcuzen® has also been studied in product specific in-house research: One study showed that Curcuzen® preserved and enhanced cellular antioxidant capacity in the body, by increasing reduced form of glutathione (GSH) from 11 to 19 micromoles per mg protein in HepH2 cells.* Another study showed that Curcuzen is superior to other curcumin products with regard to anti-inflammatory effects. It was shown to decrease LPS induced production of the tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-ꭤ) and of nitric acid (NO), both markers of inflammation, inhibited with lC50 of 5 micrograms mg protein in HepG2 cells.*
